ALL students need to be prepared to work and function in a technological society. Our students advance their educations by building and programming robots. We seek to increase their technological capabilities even further by introducing them to new methods of robot construction.
The students on our robotics team are an excellent cross-section of our school.
On our robotics team, we have high achieving honors students, as well as high achieving special education students. We effectively serve many types of students in our program. Our high school is a suburban, Michigan school of about 1800 students.
My Project
Today's 3D printing technology allows the manufacture of physical products by individuals. Consumers can now create their own custom items bypassing the manufacturing middle man. This has tremendous implications for our economy and our lives. Students need to be involved in the use and development of cutting edge technology before they reach college and the workplace.
Our students will create their own custom robot parts using this technology. In doing so, they will eliminate a great deal of weight from their competition robots. More importantly, they will be putting their 3D CAD (computer-aided design) skills to use in creating real, manufactured objects.
Through the purchase of this resource, our high school students will now be on the ground floor in the use of this world changing technology.
As our students graduate into an increasingly technological world, it is imperative that they gain experience in the development and refinement of cutting-edge technologies. Through this resource our students will explore and contribute to the ever evolving world of 3D printing.
