My students need Soccer Skillastics, the Xtreme Math Soccer Basic Kit, a box of compass pencils and other items pertaining to math and our awesome sport of soccer!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are in middle school and have so much personality. As expected, those personalities clash at times. That is why our soccer team is so important. It teaches our students how to work together to succeed. Our students are team players. They are primarily African-American or Hispanic, and a high percentage of them are special education students. A majority of them come from low-income households. These students have recently begun a new journey, as they are now in middle school.
Standards are as strict as they have ever been, and my students have experienced significant gain in their education thus far, partly due to their interaction and participation in soccer!
Despite the tough realities that they have faced, they still appear eager to learn and better themselves. Soccer allows students to use thinking skills which enhances the thought process within the classroom.
My Project
I am asking for Soccer Skillastics, Xtreme Math Soccer Basic Kit, a box of compass pencils and other items that pertain to Math and our Awesome sport of Soccer. With the materials I requested and the support from the Dick's Foundation, my students will be able to play soccer with confidence while building their math and teamwork skills. The items we need are math/soccer literature, and objects needed for the classroom and the field!
To change the world, we need to start with the young people in our classroom.
