Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Morning is the most pivotal time of day in the classroom. When students enter my room, it's my job to set their attitudes for the day. It's an opportunity to reset any bad emotions and encourage students to be open for a day of fun and learning. Worksheets (standard morning work) are not the answer!
My students are energetic and engaged learners!
They love to explore the world around them and relate their findings to our classroom. They love hands-on experiences like projects, using manipulatives, and interacting with one another. It is always my goal to give them opportunities to learn in those ways from the first moment they walk through the door.
My Project
Every morning, students trickle in from 8 to 8:30. Some students have a full 30 minutes to start their day right, others only have 5. My goal is to give students plenty of engaging activities to work on throughout the morning, no matter what time they come in, to help get their brains ready for a day of learning with one another. These binders, paper, markers, pouches and other materials will be put together to create a "Rise and Shine!" binder in which students will have plenty of opportunities to practice math and reading skills in a fun, engaging way.
I am so anxious to put these binders together because I can already see how it will improve our learning, attitudes and community within the classroom.
Students will have the opportunity to engage with important skills and each other each morning and we can all say goodbye to worksheets!
