Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our fine arts magnet school is located in a vibrant and diverse community. Although we are in a high poverty district, our school has been able to retain our fine arts magnet status. However, it has been a challenge to find the funding for exciting digital learning materials.
The students who attend our school are all on free and reduced-price lunch.
We have a highly diverse immigrant population. As a choice school, students from many different backgrounds and countries attend our fine arts program. Teachers at our school work diligently to bring every student exciting opportunities in technology.
My Project
Reflex Math is a fun, easy to use computer program that helps students develop a deep understanding of challenging math concepts through inquiry and exploration. My students used the program this year and I saw their fact fluency and confidence soar. Therefore, this project has been posted so that my students will have access next school year. Reflex Math continuously monitors each student's performance to create the optimal experience for every child. The program is game based and was a big favorite with my students. I want to keep this success going! The students were able to self-monitor their growth and this really spurred them on to reach 100% mastery near the end of the school year so that they could move from addition to multiplication.
My future students would truly enjoy the great variety of learning games and activities available on Reflex Math.
As a teacher I would be able to have this game based learning system available for my students. The student progress accounts would allow me to assess their progress and share this information with parents. We'd love your support bringing this excellent online program to our classroom!
