My students need word building boxes, a building words instant learning center, and twist and turn 3-letter word builders to use in our literacy centers.
Kindergarten is such an energetic grade to teach. The students love hands-on and interactive activities, especially in Reading. We are constantly moving around the classroom and working in groups.
I have 20 students in my class.
They are a diverse group of students with varying personalities. They love to work together and help each other. They love anything new and jump at the opportunity to explore it. They are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. New materials will help them meet the state standards.
My Project
My students are learning to read. The start of the process is identifying letters and sounds. From there, they begin to blend words together, which leads to them becoming fluent readers. Some of the resources will be used in small group and literacy centers. They will be silently reading, but at the same time hearing themselves reading while using the phones. I am in need of fluency phones. These phones will help them read to themselves quietly, but hear how they are doing. I have also ordered hands-on materials to help them build words and read simple words. These resources will help the students learn to read.
My students will have more opportunities to build their phonics skills through this donation.
Their self-esteem when reading will increase because they will be reading to themselves. The students will have more confidence when writing and building words because they are given more practice while in literacy centers.
