With the availability of so many productive technology tools and apps now at hand, educators are recognizing the reality of how those tools can assist us in lessening gaps with struggling students. An iPad is a wonderful tool to utilize that could help my students with that task. Students love tablets, so I feel this would be a great resource for my students!
As a reading interventionist, I can see the wonderful possibilities of an Ipad in an ELA Classroom.
According to research, these tablets appear to be an asset in the classroom across the nation. As an ELA teacher, I know having an Ipad, accessories and adapter would bring more interactivity to my ELA classroom.
I am a veteran teacher who taught Kindergarten for many years. My current school has about 550 students. I now teach reading to students to help lessen the gap for struggling readers. Our Pre K-5th grade school is one of the feeder schools in town. This is our 1st year using Common Core and in all honesty, we are all striving to move forward with our wonderful students.
My Project
I believe through the use of an Ipad and available ELA apps, I can find productive ways to help reduce reading gaps with my students. Recognizing and addressing individual student levels are crucial parts of any classroom. Last year in an attempt to help parents, our school set up an Ipad website to help find skill apps at home. My plan would be to utilize apps from that site in centers with our classroom Ipad (and accessories) to help reduce gaps.
Another plan lies in combining technology resources for group lessons. With an Apple Dock VGA adapter, I can connect the Ipad to my interactive whiteboard and projector. It would offer a different, and yet meaningful experience to my students. As I research, I am finding wonderful possibilities of using one in my classroom.
I know with an Ipad, it would increase ways for me to reach my students using interactive apps in centers and during whole group activities.
Without a doubt, my students and I would be appreciative of your help in having our own classroom tablet. Would you please consider helping us?
