This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us get high interest books for our library! Our classroom library, or lack there of, is in a great need of some fun and interesting books. A lot of the books that my students have to choose from are not relevant to their lives or were written before they were even born!

I teach 25 7th grade students from the South Bronx.

This year I have mostly English Language Learners, which means English is not their first language. These students are from low income families, and often do not have many books at home to read for independent reading.

My Project

I am requesting high interest books for my students to read during independent reading time. My students do not like the selection of books in our classroom, so we need some new titles! Independent reading helps struggling readers in many ways. These students need books that are on their reading level, and books that are slightly above their reading level to challenge them. These reading resources will help them with all their classes, and also help them with their state exams.

Your donation will make a huge difference to my classroom, and will help make it more of a learning environment.

These books will give a huge boost to our meager classroom library. Please help us!
