Reading Fanatics Need a Classroom Library

My students need 75+ books, for a classroom library that will hook them into independent reading on the first day of fourth grade.

My Students

I've heard people say that kids don't like to read anymore or that they won't sit and read independently. I believe that all kids will read- they just have to find the right book. Help us fill our classroom with the "right" books!

My students attend a high-poverty, public, small school with a big heart in Wisconsin.

While they come from all different backgrounds and speak different languages, they are all excited about learning. Our interests ebb and flow with the books we read. One week it's the ocean, the next week it's wolves. My students are curious, hard-working and inspiring.

My Project

I believe that all students are readers, some of them just don't know it yet. Having a large classroom library full of high-interest books will allow me to match students to the right books and also allow them to choose the books that they want to read. I believe that time for independent reading is a crucial part of the school day and we will start every day with 15 minutes of reading.

I believe that one of the most important things we can do as educators is to inspire a love of reading in our students.

Help me build a classroom library of high-interest books that will make lifelong readers out of all of my students.
