Readers Are Leaders

My students need 60 high interest books at lower levels to keep them engaged and excited about reading.

My Students

Often the books I have available for my students are at their interest level but much to difficult for them to enjoy as they read or the books are at their level but boring or "baby" books.

The students at our school are very multi-cultural.

Along with our diverse community we also serve the families at the local university. Many of the university staff and students come from all over the world. Many of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and they are often facing struggles academically across their day. Our school, however, truly strives to be a community of learners. It is not unusual to see both teachers and other students go out of their way to help those in need.

My Project

Help to put some exciting and appropriate books in the hands of some very deserving young readers. Your donations will encourage these children to read books that will help to develop a love of reading and stories. Having books to engage students, books that stir their imaginations is essential to build life long learners. The books in this selection are books children enjoy that will be appropriate for multiple groups of my students in higher grades.

These books will help to serve as a basis for reading lessons in small groups.

Then these books will be available in the class library or for other teachers to borrow so that many students will have opportunities to share in these books.
