Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever been caught up in a book you just couldn't put down? Well imagine being a third grader learning and reading in a second language and feeling that excitement for the first time.
My students come from low-income families where wondering if they will be fed, clothed, and loved are their daily concerns.
The majority of them speak English as their second language so naturally reading is a struggle. Despite their backgrounds, my students have an infectious love of learning that is an inspiration to me every day. I want to feed their desire and inspire them to strive for more by giving them all the resources they need. I believe that our new reading centers will help to achieve this goal.
My Project
With these audio book sets, my students will have the ability to listen while reading. This will help them to better their own fluency while also giving them exposure to higher level texts. It will help strengthen their language and reading skills and encourage them to continue their love of learning. Audio books are fun, interactive ways to meet the needs of auditory learners. They will learn to track, enrich their vocabulary, and think critically about what they are reading.
I am always looking for ways to help strengthen my students are learners.
This donation will help me to purchase resources for my grade level that we cannot afford on our own. Thus giving my students the instructional support they need.
