This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students will have an opportunity to make strides in their reading comprehension and skill levels with a new reading intervention program that will be implemented in the new school year.

There are many students in our middle school who read below grade level, and struggle to keep up with the academic work in their content area classes because of the deficits in their reading abilities.The students attend school in a district considered to be high poverty.

Many of these struggling readers are from homes where there are not many books and reading materials. My students will need this equipment for a new reading intervention program that they will be using.

My Project

The students will use the headphones with microphones in their reading to increase their oral reading fluency. The personal CD players with ear buds will be used in a listening center. Students will listen to non-fiction informational texts while following along in individual readers.

By donating to this project, students will have a chance to improve their skills in reading.

We are excited to finally have the support of the district and PTO in securing a nationally recognized reading intervention program for our struggling readers We now need the classroom to be ready with the materials and equipment, so we can implement the program with struggling readers in grades 6-8.
