My students need new books, and tools to increase phonemic awareness and fluency. I am asking for Judy Moody books, Individual WhisperPhones, and Pop sight word games
I teach in a 2nd grade classroom, and I my biggest challenge is getting students to engage and find value in school. My students are enthused to read when they come into second grade. My goal is to continue this enthusiasm and build on it.
My students come to second grade with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
In second grade we embrace each other and value our differences, recognizing we all have skills to share. My classroom is a place where we can all come together to build a strong community of learners. The teachers in my building work hard to create a sense of community throughout our school. We work collaboratively to meet the needs of all students.
My Project
I incorporate Daily 5 in my reading block. Daily 5 is when the children choose different activities to work on during our reading block. The choices are reading to themselves, buddy reading, listening to reading, writing and working on word work.
The materials I am requesting will help my students engage in meaningful learning exercise. I am asking for sight word games to improve sight word recognition. I have also requested devices that allow students to hear themselves reading. These will help promote fluency.
The materials I am asking for will help promote all areas of Daily 5.
Funding of this project will improve my reading block and Daily 5 by having more books and technology available to make the program a success.
Funding this project will help bring self awareness to students reading.
It will also allow students the opportunity to make positive engagements with literacy. By promoting literacy students will continue to my positive literacy choices,
