Presenting a project before the class can be daunting, but think how much easier it would be if the students could see the work described. Imagine students paying attention because they can hear and see a multimedia project on a document camera that does not have to be hooked up to a computer.
My fifth grade students attend a New York public school in one of the most diverse areas in the nation.
Ours is an international community where many languages are spoken representing a rich mosaic of cultures. We are very proud of the many countries that are represented in our school and the families of our children look to us to provide an excellent education with the same advantages of the best schools.
Technology is valued by our families and we'd love for students to share their creativity through the use of an Epson document camera that would allow all to see. This is particularly important as we use technology to learn in support of literacy. This Epson document camera offers a range of presentation possibilities and would give our international school community an innovative way to learn. It's expensive yet we are hopeful that we will be able to acquire this fabulous tool that does not need to be connected to a computer.
My Project
The Epson DC-20 Document Camera has remarkable features that make it particularly suitable for the elementary school classroom. The zoom feature will magnify for all to see no matter where one is sitting in the classroom. It can capture and store images and record and share audio/video lessons, all without the need to connect to a computer.
Suddenly multimedia student presentations have been simplified and that simplicity is a time saver. Time is always at a premium and this technology has advanced application software compatible with both PCs and Macs, and interfaces with the SmartBoard we have in our room. This Epson DC-20 Document Camera would be a truly 21st century learning tool for students to use as we address the new Core Curriculum and the academic rigor of new standards.
When using technology in the classroom, there are often many components and the challenge is to make sure they all work together.
This Epson document camera works optimally as a stand alone technology, but can also work with our computers and SmartBoard. Students could easily project their work and include video, audio, and photos offering endless possibilities for project based learning. Its ease of use is compelling and we hope to share our creativity using this amazing tool.
