My students are a curious, caring, wonderful group! They are also very visual learners. As I try to make their instruction more multi-modal, I have a limited amount of technology at my disposal to support this goal. This projector will allow me to enhance lessons in powerful ways!
My students love to learn about the world around them and within them.
They cherish books, enjoy intellectual challenges, and delight in discoveries. In order to make teaching and learning more engaging, I have tried to share the most interactive lessons I can with them. This is often enhanced by appropriate technology which is especially beneficial to my students with learning differences and visual needs.
At the beginning of the year, generous donors supplied us with a document camera which greatly improved the level of engagement in the class. Unfortunately, our projector broke and we have not been able to use the camera. This projector would allow us to use our document camera once again AND enjoy a much larger range of multimedia experiences. It would be a gift that would build background knowledge and deeper comprehension in powerful ways every time we projected text and images.
My Project
Showing video clips of authors being interviewed. Looking at a video of Mexico after doing an in-depth cultural study of that country and culture. Examining the work of other third graders who have written book reviews. The opportunities for connection, collaboration and stimulating curiosity are endless with this one simple piece of technology that unfortunately is not within our school budget. It will also allow us to use our document camera again!
We are an institution that has been conscientiously selective about the technology we incorporate in our classrooms.
We are also a school that has a very limited budget with no extra money for items like this projector. Your donation will allow my students to access words and the world in a new, dynamic way and provide us with new opportunities to explore media literacy. It will be an incredible teaching tool for all content areas.
