We have a wonderful group of third grade students. Our students live in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. There are students from a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of needs and skills. The students bring excitement and enthusiasm to the day and everything they do.
Our students love to work in small groups, especially for reading!
They enjoy working together and with the teacher in order to connect reading to a wide range of subjects. We have been developing our classrooms to show a student-centered environment.
My Project
Our classroom is increasing our use of technology to further our learning. A document camera and projector will enable more interaction between the students and a greater variety of texts and other documents. Student engagement will be significantly improved.
Students will be able to view text and focus on smaller details during our intentional read alouds.
During shared reading, students will be to interact in the close reading process. In addition, students will be able to participate in a more interactive "author's chair". They will be able to project their own writing to share with the fellow classmates...an exciting way to publish their work. During math, students will have an opportunity to see concrete examples of problem-solving strategies. There are endless instructional possibilities when using these devices in the classroom.
