Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many science, social science lessons can be rather boring when there aren't enough hands on materials available. Projecting video clips and conducting searches in front of the students can liven up any lesson.

My 3rd graders come from the inner city.

They know all about the web. Unfortunately, very few of them have personal computers or web browsing devices at home to take advantage it. My students come from proud, hardworking, low income households. The children are very enthusiastic learners regardless of their financial hardships.

My Project

I plan to liven up my lessons by projecting searches and showing video clips. I will connect the projector to my classroom PC. It's a lot easier to run a quick search about a subject and present an article or image than to run off hundreds of handouts every week. As classroom teachers it not always practical or cost effective to bring in artifacts.

It's important to keep students engaged during lessons.

Projecting searches and viewing video clips will definitely be more meaningful to the students. Most children are visual learners and they will enjoy taking advantage of current technology. I can only do so much with a dry erase board. Please help us move forward.
