I am the mentor of our Vex Robotics team.
This is my first year with my students, and I am very excited to be a part of this team. It started with one determined student, and now we are a strong team composed of many dedicated members. We are an official team competing in the Vex Competition for the first time. Our school has been generous and provided some parts. Unfortunately, we are short of funding and cannot pay for tools and a camera for our team. Tools are used to cut the metal so we can build our competition robot according to our design plan. As a first year rookie team, funding is difficult, but our team members overcome it with a positive attitude. I look forward to our team's experience together this year!
My Project
My students will use the hacksaw to cut metal pieces, vice to hold it stable while cutting them, and a stone sharpener to sharpen the hacksaw, so we can build our competition robot. We will use the Teflon tape for our air pressure cylinder tubing's. We will also use a camera to take pictures of our hard work and progress, a 32gb memory card to hold lots of memories, and a nice little case for the camera..They will learn how much they have changed from the beginning with the camera! Our team can go really far with these materials.
Donations will help make my classroom a more creative place by making more flexibility with building.
With these tools, my students can be able to make a robot that can be very successful in the VEX competition and get them a scholarship in a Science, Technology, Engineer, or Math subject. This may inspire them to follow a STEM career. This will definitely make them better!
