My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book from cover to cover? My kids finally do and they are learning the value that comes with it. Our classroom library needs to grow to support their new found love of reading.

My students are wonderful.

They are thirsty for knowledge and the good books that can provide it. My kids are Honors/Advanced kiddos in a lower income school. Most of my students have finally found one book that they love and they (as well as I) are eager to find more engaging books that enhance this new found appreciation.

My Project

Our school is in a suburban part of town where the outlook at times can be dreary. Our school supports the growth and education of the whole child. The teachers at our school focus on reading daily. Our kids have learned to become independent readers through our dedication to set aside time for them to read for a purpose. That being said, the students joy for reading has grown. My students love the books that I am requesting. I would love to see the smile on their faces when they see what lengths people will go to ensure that their love for reading is supported. Imagine- even complete strangers support your growth. What a great message this would give to my kiddos. With the donation of these books, my students will be able to grow as readers with resources that actually intrigue them, not just me or the district. My kids read independently on a daily basis, therefore this donation will reach all of my 105 kids and foster their love of reading.

The confidence that becoming a better reader has instilled in our students is apparent.

The library cannot keep certain books on the shelves. With you help my students will be able to connect with the books that inspire them. Who knows? Maybe one of these books will inspire the next Ellen Hopkins or Stephanie Meyer?
