Play is special for children. Playing with toys is such an important skill for children. Working with young children with special needs I know the importance of play. Children can develop so many skills from just sitting and playing.
I have such a great group of 3-5 year olds with special needs Each child is different and each child has his own strengths.
Each child learns differently and that is why play is so important to us. I also work on a military base and each one of my students has at least one parent who is an active member of the armed forces. My students are smart, funny and loving. They grow so much everyday. I am grateful to work with such a great group of kids.
My Project
Children learn so much through play. Through dramatic play they develop everyday skills, social skills and verbal skills.
Through block play they are developing fine and gross motor skills while also increasing their math skills such as counting, color recognition and shapes. By playing with manipulative's the students learn to count, sort, colors, while increasing their motor skills. By playing we are setting the foundation for the rest of their education.
Imagine a world with out play.
A world where a kid was not free to be a kid. We are desperately in need of some new toys to keep our kids engaged. Please help me make a difference in a child's life by giving them the gift of play.
