My Students

Our 6th grade students can study graphs, charts and pictures of how plate tectonics work, but really seeing the changes in the Earth would truly help them understand the concept. This tectonic sandbox would enable all students to see the processes being taught in class.

We are a fairly large middle school in West Central Georgia.

Our school has over 1,000 students ranging in ages from 10 to 15. Our students come from all walks of life and face many different challenges but come to school and genuinely show an eagerness to learn!

My Project

The tectonic sandbox is a model which vividly demonstrates convergent, divergent, and transform boundaries. The model is hands-on and easy to use. By ordering 3, each of our 3 science teachers would be able to use the models simultaneously with their classes.

Our school strives to engage students, and our students truly enjoy hands-on activities.

Having a model like this would allow our students to see a concept that is usually only illustrated through photos and charts. This model would bring science to life for our 6th grade students!
