Students will be learning how to use computers as a tool. This learning takes place through a variety of projects.
I teach a computer class for sixth graders.
Most students are tech savvy about games and smart devices. Unfortunately, many of them do not know how or why these devices work. Their world revolves around technology and this class will help them to better understand that technology and how to use it as a tool.
My Project
Does your computer and Internet work all day, every day? Neither does mine. With a computer lab full of sixth graders, I realized for those times when things aren't working as planned, I needed a backup plan. How could they add to their computer knowledge while unable to use computers? With these books, students will be able to continually learn about computers. My back up plan is to have books ready and available. There will be a choice of projects or presentations the students can complete using these books.
With these books, students will be able to learn some of the history of computing.
When/if things aren't working, it will show them that there are always other options for learning. There won't be wasted days because of technical difficulties.
