Dissections are a great opportunity for students to get excited about science. The year just started and they are already looking forward to that day!
Our students are excited to learn.
They want to get more out of a lesson than just the basics. We are a campus that strives to incorporate inquiry and project-based learning so that the students can excel! When they are interacting with each other and materials, their learning experience is deeper and more valuable.
My Project
My students need 20 pigs for groups of 4 in dissections. They will also need scalpels and gloves. For anatomy the skeleton will be a good reference. The materials requested will be used for our pig dissections. There will be about four students per pig so that they get more out of it and everyone gets a chance to participate. We feel this is very important to ensure that two days of class time are not lost simply because there were not enough materials. They will get the experience to dig deeper into science and have an opportunity that does not normally come until high school or college.
Receiving this donation will give students a unique opportunity that they may never have.
Many of our students come from low SCS and thrive on the excitement of learning to measure their success. With dissections, everyone gets the chance to be a doctor and feel as if they have done something many other students do not. These materials could give our students a higher sense of pride and boost their confidence to continue to work hard.
