Ms. Pierre from Detroit MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need pencils, folders, glue, copy paper and construction paper to start the year with all children equipped with the tools to be organized and prepared to succeed.

Imagine a math classroom without adequate pencils and paper. Our city has gone through economic challenges and families have been struggling. Yet, the economy has left schools without enough basic supplies. Student achievement requires available resources that can solve more math problems.
In this part of the Midwest, there has been a drastic change population and employment is scarce for economically challenged families.
Our school district provides breakfast and lunch to 100% of all students in the city. My math classes are always filled with eager minds that are hungry for more than just food. They want knowledge that will lead them to a brighter future. Every year I give my class a theme. This year they are American Innovators that are on a mission to exceed there past academic performance and explore a new way of looking at mathematics through hands on activities and creating new projects that integrate cross curricular applications. Our math class is in dire need of simple resources that you can donate and supply the basics. These little innovators and I will do the rest with your help.
This year there won't be a shortage of pencils and paper because you have decided to donate to our little citizens. Mathematics can be challenging without these simple supplies. Your contribution will make creating math stories, math poetry and math competence increase just by providing an equal share of resources for all of my students. The school year should be filled with hope and new gear to make a great start. Something as ordinary as having construction paper can inspire my fourth graders design something innovative and refreshingly new. These tools make calculating equations easier. When you don't always have to share or go without. Please make this year fair and equitable for all my American Innovators. Today, you are investing in this mathematical trek of 60 children, that now will be supplied with paper and pencils so, they will find a better way to solve problems.
My little innovators are on a mathematical journey to explore new strategies and processes of designing their own greater sense of numeration.
These young mathematician will not go without supplies because you have graciously provided them with enough donated tools that will supplement for the parent that cannot purchase them at this time. I know these citizens won't be without pencils or paper to calculate their future as American innovators that will figure out the challenges of the future.
