My students need 12 pedometers to use in the Paws On Parade Walking Club when bad weather doesn't permit outdoor recess. The boxes will keep pedometers safe when not in use.
During indoor recess, students get very little movement. By having pedometers, students could walk & build lifelong healthy habits. "Opportunities don't happen. You create them." by Chris Grosser. The Paws on Parade Club is an opportunity created to help students better their life in many ways.
Students who join the Paws on Parade Club are in first through fifth Grades.
We have students who are either very active, stressed, not physically fit, need to build self-esteem, or just like to walk/run. We are a Leader In Me Elementary School using and teaching the 7 Habits, by Stephen Covey.
My Project
Students will use the 12 pedometers to record the steps they walk during their indoor recess. Walking indoors will also increase their opportunities to earn prizes & learn a different way to track their mileage during the school year. Your support will help them accomplish the following… They will have fun while building self-esteem, learning responsibility, mathematics, & record-keeping skills. They’ll also learn how to set goals, work to achieve them, & evaluate their personal achievement. We will use the pedometer storage boxes to keep our pedometers safe.
Your donation will help improve indoor recess in many ways.
For recess supervisors – it channels kids’ energy; for teachers – it gets kids ready to learn; for principals – it aids in children’s educational development; for parents – it’s getting their child physically fit. And, it will help the kids develop fitness while building muscles, burn calories, reduce stress and create good lifelong healthy habits.
