My students need 2 park benches out on the playground for students who are unable to stand, walk or run, to enjoy the outdoors with the rest of the students.

My Students

I am a School Counselor working with all of the first and second graders at our school. I would greatly appreciate two outdoor park benches for our playground.

Our students are unique in that they are all from military families.

They are very special in many ways. For example, most of our students have lived in other states and countries. They have also experienced the deployment of at least one, and in some cases, both parents.

My Project

The park benches that I am requesting would be used on the playground for students who have difficulty standing, walking, or running. This would give them an opportunity to comfortably enjoy the outdoors with the other students. The benches would also be used as "friendship benches" to encourage positive communication between students, and to help develop positive peer relationships.

Having park benches available for students at recess would allow students who are unable to participate in typical activities to have an opportunity to comfortably enjoy being outside.

"Friendship benches" would also encourage positive peer relationships.
