My Students

How many of you know why things work the way they do? It is vital for students to see and understand the behind the scenes thinking that goes into our everyday lives.

These students will be any student in middle school that want to take part in a workshop with myself and their parents to learn the basics of building and coding.

The workshop will start very small with just a few families to test things out. I will continue to expand as I figure out the best approach to making this successful while being able to deliver and one to one "family" experience.

My Project

My students need three Arduino Starter Kits to learn how to code in the workshop and then have necessary materials to learn more at home. When the workshop ends I want these kits to go home with the families so they can continue to learn and program on their own. I would like to develop a mentorship where these families would come in to the next workshop and help the new families. Eventually we will have this family like structure in our community where we are all helping one another learn how to code and build cool projects.

Students need to learn the language of coding.

It is a necessary thinking skill and language to develop. If we expose kids to foreign language, then this is just as important and will open their eyes to many more possibilities out there in the real world.
