This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As the students enter the classroom and sit at their desk, imagine all of them opening an exciting, kid-friendly magazine to read! Let the pages turn....

My students live in a predominately low income, underprivileged community.

Everyday, students come seeking more and more knowledge. As readers preparing for the future, it is important that they are knowledgeable of all types of reading materials. Many students rarely get an opportunity to read newspapers let alone magazines.

My Project

With copies of Scholastic News and Storyworks, students will have access to current events as well as fiction and expository stories in kid friendly language. Students are normally very comfortable with reading fiction text, but not so much with nonfiction/expository text. With these magazines in the classroom, students will get the exposure needed to make them well-rounded readers.

With your donations, The Page Turners project will help increase students' literary and comprehension skills.

Students will be able to read and comprehend materials spanning from Fiction to Nonfiction.
