My Students

Rebuild our Little Houses! Our Little House in the Big Woods books are literally falling apart at the seams! Our school has one set of 35 new books to share with 120 third grade students. All of our remaining Little House books are missing pages and are difficult for any student to read.

My third grade students are very diverse and are increasingly coming to school from a low socioeconomic background.

Many students receive free and reduced lunches and their families are not able to supplement our reading program by purchasing their own copy of this literature book.

My Project

We need 30 copies of our core literature book, Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. By purchasing these books for my students, you provide them with the kind of basic supplies every child should have. When students have to share a book or stop what they are reading to try to tape together pages that are missing, they are not really able to focus on what is important, the literature! My students spend more time trying to help one another with fixing their books than reading and internalizing the material. If you support my class with these books, my students will be able to read, comprehend, analyze, and truly experience the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder and an important part of our American history.

I am hopeful that you will support this project as it will enrich the lives of not only my current third grade students, but also those who enter my classroom in years to come.
