My Students

I am a new teacher to the school district and my goal is to have every student ready for the next grade level and to be life long learners. My favorite quote is "A good teacher is like a candle- it consumes itself to light the way for others." Anonymous

My students will come from a cross-section of low income to middle income families.

They come into the class nervous and eager to please. They all come in with their own small or big baggage, but they are all looking for attention and love. Some are just beginning to learn how to blend words and are not quite reading as yet. However there are others who are reading higher than some third grade readers. They are funny, energetic, and ready to please. They draw "I love you hearts", colored pictures and very shyly present it to the person who they now consider the other love of their life other than their mother. They are our future...

My Project

Since this is a new classroom the cabinet will be used to house their classroom and homework. It will also have all the materials they will need to take home. The back of the chair sack will hold their daily classwork and their daily reading books. The sack will make it easier for them to retrieve their daily work instead of wondering around the classroom and disrupting other students. The book bins will hold their leveled reading materials and will become part of the classroom library. In doing the above items the classroom will be more organized and will have the ability to run more smoothly.

The donation of this project will improve my classroom by making it more organized.

When there is an organized classroom the students will feel safe and comfortable and will be willing and able to learn. It is the hope that by giving them, for example, their individual back of chair caddy they will have ownership in their education and they will then be successful.
