This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Are you attentive and focused if your stomach is rumbling because of hunger? Well, my students aren't either!
My school is located near a large urban city in Texas.
Most of the Kindergarten students in my class are on free or reduced-price lunch. For some of my students, Kindergarten is their first experience in a school setting. My Kindergarten students have a very long day of learning because our school day has been extended. The school day still begins early so my young students have a long afternoon of learning each day.
My Project
I am asking for nutritious snacks such as Quaker Granola Bars, Mott's Medleys Fruit Snacks, and Frito-Lay Baked Snacks so that my students can eat a snack each afternoon. We eat lunch early in the day so students become hungry before the school day ends. Our daily learning schedule includes most of the core academic instructional subjects in the afternoon. It is a long day for Kindergarten students so I want to help keep them attentive and focused. I know that giving my students a snack break in the middle of the day will help them do their best learning all afternoon.
Having snacks available to hungry students each afternoon will definitely increase student learning and achievement.
My Kindergarten students need to be refreshed and focused all day. If my students are hungry, they will not be attentive and ready to learn academic concepts being taught throughout the school day.
