My Students

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..." Now- to get brains in our head, we NEED books! It's essential!

I teach at a low-income, Title I elementary school in Charlotte, NC.

We have over 85% of our students on free and reduced lunch. I have 21 new students this year and I am so excited to get the school year rolling! My students come from various backgrounds. They are simple amazing little people!

My Project

We are in need of non-fiction, leveled, guided reading books. These leveled books with allow the students to explore non-fiction book, as well as having books on their individual level. Being able to pick from different books is essential in the learning process. Having non-fiction allows the students to research about certain topics that interest them!

Having a complete leveled library in my classroom is so important to each one of my students' learning.

By having this, I will have books on their level, that they will be using daily. They will be using these books during independent reading time, during guided reading time and just allowing the students to have access to different levels is crucial to their success.
