Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Paper is hard to come by in my school! I would love for my students to have the freedom to write and draw as much as they would like without going through the case of paper I need to last the year.
I teach 1st grade at a transient school with a high Hispanic population.
My 26 students this year may be from all over the world but they all speak English as a second language. These sweet children are so eager to learn! They are curious, artistic and creative. My group this year LOVE to write and draw. My girls constantly draw rainbows, unicorns and their families picking flowers. My boys are all boy! They enjoy drawing treasure maps, ninjas and dinosaurs.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of dry erase boards and markers, dry erase table cling circles and neon markers with black boards. Having such a creative class we use a ton of paper! Dry erase boards will be perfect in cutting back some of the paper usage and also help my students perfect their pictures and stories before they transfer them to paper. The great thing about dry erase is with a quick wipe you are ready to go again! My second item is circle table clings. Table clings are very cool! I am going to put the 14 inch circles on my teacher kidney table so my students will be able to write their work on the table. How much fun would that be? The third item I am requesting is black dry erase boards with neon markers. These unique boards will make center work exciting and fun.
Dry erase is very forgiving.
Students can change or add to their work without others knowing they made a mistake. I know my students this year and my students in the years to come will use these boards with great gusto! They will be able to get their thoughts and ideas down quickly and best of all make the changes they need just as quick.
