My Students

Social studies comes alive! Students love to read novels filled with adventure and suspense. Learning about history at the same time, an awesome added bonus!

My school consists of a mixture of socioeconomically and ethnically diverse students.

Many of my students are Title I and can't afford to purchase books on their own. They love to read and really enjoyed our last novel, "Island of the Blue Dolphins." Our school has grown tremendously over the past year and we don't have enough novels for the expanded enrollment of 4th graders.

My Project

Students will be involved in a novel study that not only will facilitate a love of reading, but also a love of history. They will explore the California Gold Rush and learn about the elements of literature. They will also learn new vocabulary terms and practice their writing skills. All of these are important skills that will enhance their ability to be successful in life.

Your donation will make a difference because students will be able to use the books to learn about social studies.

Hopefully this will lead to not only a love of reading, but a love of history.
