Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I recently read a quote that said, "So often you find that the students you're trying to inspire are the ones that end up inspiring you." Each and everyday my students never cease to surprise me. My biggest challenge is a lack of technology and materials in the classroom.
My school is extremely diverse.
The students are a fun loving group from a variety of backgrounds and learning abilities who come together to form a community where everyone feels welcomed. They are motivated, respectful, responsible and safe. Students receive a solid education while also being provided with opportunities to have fun through enrichment programs.
My Project
The laptop and iPad will be utilized in conjunction with the projector to run curriculum programs, including access to iTools, and allow students to watch educational videos. Additionally, students can earn laptop and iPad time to play educational games and increase their knowledge of technology.
The Measurement Kit will allow students to be more-hands on during our Measurement and Data unit in mathematics. The Scholastic subscription will help students to make real-world connections and meet non-fiction standards. Other requested items will help students increase their learning and stay organized. For example, the lamination packets will help students keep items, such as hand-made rulers, user-friendly for a longer period of time. While, the chair socks will ensure there is a quiet, working environment at all times.
Due to low funding, my school does not have access to SmartBoards and necessary manipulatives.
While we do currently have projectors, they require a laptop to run curriculum programs. As my fourth-year teaching approaches, I want to ensure my incoming students have the best learning environment I can offer now and in years to come.
