Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Center time in our pre-k classroom takes up a significant part of our day and is used as a time to assist the student in learning the lesson objective. Our classroom is only 4 weeks old and we are starting from scratch when it comes to supplies for centers.
I have 24 students who are aged four and five and their brains are like sponges at this point in their life.
A good thing about my students is that the small things interest them but at the same time it is hard to keep their attention after interest is lost. To retain interest, it's best that I constantly change what I put out into their centers, because once interest is lost, my items will result in serving the purpose of being a chewing toy.
My Project
Our pre-school class constantly works towards achieving lesson objectives that require our students to identify, arrange, sort, and count items. I have on my list various items that would be placed in different centers that help support the kids learning of various disciplines. I have requested items such as a puzzle to help develop visual and spatial perception. I requested math manipulatives such as a base ten set to help support certain math objectives. Also on the list is a Hands On Science Specimen Center which would assist the students in learning science related topics.
With your donation, my students will be able to have quality items within their learning centers which could lead to them developing a preference for spending time in the center that interests them the most.
Since each center has a theme that revolves around a certain discipline, such as math or science, our upgraded centers would support the students learning in those areas and give them the opportunity to establish a foundation in those subjects that they have been inspired to build upon.
