My class consists of 20 kindergarten students. A typical day consists of several hands on activities. At the end of the year, I want to see all my students performing to their full potential. That may look different for each child. It is my job to get them there, but the correct materials will help.
My school is very focused on the well being of each student.
We encourage getting to know the strengths and weaknesses of each student in order to meet them where they are. My school is active in STEM activities. Parent involvement is highly encouraged and welcomed. Students need to see the importance of school. We are becoming STEM certified this school year.
My Project
I am asking for 2 different items. The first item is a set of alphabet tubs. Each tub has items that contain little objects that start with each letter of the alphabet. These tubs will be used daily while introducing the letter of the day. Then the tub will be used at the word work station. Students will be able to be hands on with their learning.
The second item I am asking for are leveled reading books. These would be incorporated into my reading center. This reading center is accessible to the students at anytime of the literacy block. They will be able to use these books for Daily 5- read to someone and read to self.
These donations are important to my student's growth as readers.
Both items foster learning and curiosity. As a 1st year teacher, I do not have all the items needed to properly implement Daily 5. I want students to have a love for reading. These books will encourage this love. Learning to reading is the building blocks of all other subjects.
