Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In first grade the students need a lot of structure. The classroom needs a new rug that is big enough for all students and allows them their own individual space, yet brings them together as a family. Our classroom needs a pencil sharpener so that the pencils can be sharp, ready to go for the day.
My students are very verbal and have a great relationship with each other and myself.
They come from low income homes and need the structure of school. We are working on having our own individual space as well as knowing that even though we are all different we are all part of a school family. The students love connecting with each other and learning more about their friends. Their favorite subject is math but they struggle with reading. Giving the students their own file boxes for books would help them take ownership of their books and their reading.
My Project
My students need a new rug to use for whole group lessons as well as our morning meetings. The rug will provide enough space for every student in my classroom. A new pencil sharpener will help my students be able to write and have sharp pencils for the day. Plastic boxes will help students be able to keep their reading books organized and keep them in better condition.
Donations will help my classroom by providing my students with things that will help keep the classroom, safe, neat and orderly in order for students to learn.
My students will be able to learn how to be organized as well as stay within their own personal space on the carpet.
