My students need pocket charts and a stand, and they need books that will motivate them to read, like the mysteries, Third Grade Detectives & Cam Jansen, & the mystifying science adventures of The Magic School Bus!
How many times have you began reading a book that you just couldn't put down? I want the kids in my class to feel the same love for reading! By expanding my classroom library and adding books that will interest my students, I'm hoping to turn them into life long readers!
I have 21 boys and girls in my third grade classroom in our rural Kentucky school!
We are in a small district with only three small schools where much of the faculty (myself included) are former students! The faculty and students have tons of school spirit!
Third graders are so much fun! I love the energy they have and their willingness to learn! They love hands-on activities and educational games! My students also love to be read to, especially when the story is humorous and interesting! A yearly favorite is "The Best (Worst) Christmas Pageant Ever"! By providing them with more interesting choices in our classroom library, I hope to make the kids in my class more eager to read on their own as well!
My Project
The books that I'm requesting will encourage my students to read more fervently! I chose books from three different series to add to our classroom library. The Third Grade Mysteries series will be in high demand with my third graders! The Cam Jansen Series is a mystery collection that I'm sure will intrigue them...and what kids don't love the Magic School Bus series?
The kids will choose a book every other week to take home and read! They will write a review for each book they read, and decide if they would recommend it to a friend. Their reviews will be posted in the classroom for their friends to read before choosing their next book! The library cards and pockets along with the pocket charts I'm requesting will help my students and me stay organized and keep track of all of our new books as they go home to be enjoyed and shared!
