Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Music and movement helps children and adults alike, to define their feelings through exploration, creativity and expression when words are able to convey the message.
My students are Pre-Kindergarten students, who are all from low income families.
The majority of my students, or I like to call them, my little friends, come from non-English speaking families. These precious children have had very few early learning experiences, which is why they have earned a placement in my classroom. Each of them are very curious about the world around them, and enjoys learning through exploration.
My Project
Through the use of durable musical instruments, such as musical chimes, a wave drum, and xylophone, my little friends will be able to express themselves through different types of music. Through the use of well made movement materials, like scarves and shake and move ribbon bells, my little friends will be able to think and express how music makes them feel. While using the instruments and movement materials, my little friends will also learn about cause and effect, different sounds, sequence and rhythm.
Music and movement help to create lasting learning experiences through developing both sides of the brain.
Giving to this project will help my little friends to enhance their learning through music and movement.
