"It's still magic even if you know how it's done." Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky.
Being able to create music using technology will not take away from learning music, it will only enhance their ability to see how the magic of music is made.
My students come from a low income, once major farming community.
They are bright and intelligent students that are just needing the opportunity to see what is out there in the world for them. They attend a 7-12 building and are a very close knit group of people. It is also a very diverse population for being a small town. They have pride in their traditions and diverse backgrounds and are very good about including new students into their group.
My Project
By having Chromebooks in our classroom, I can help open the world of music to them beyond what they see in their own community. They can see that there are more jobs than just being a teacher of music. They can also research about their instruments, different composers, music theory and music history. The world will be at their fingertips instead of being out of their reach.
Our school does not have enough computers to go around for every student so when it comes to music, we get shoved to the back burner when it comes to the use of them. With this project, we will be able to learn more and hear more than we could before.
Please consider helping my students.
They are hard working individuals that just need the opportunity to be able to keep up with other students in higher income areas that are given the advantage of technology. Please help these students have the opportunity to see more of our world!
