Mrs. Phillips, I Want To Be A Doctor When I Grow Up!
My students need to learn more about the human body by using the hands-on human body models, fact cards and a removable body parts apron, as many of my young learners aspire to be future doctors.

We are a wonderful group of diverse learners from the third poorest city in America.
Our parents love us. Their first priority is keeping a roof over our head. Both parents work different shifts so that we are carefully attended to. The children are not afforded many outside opportunities because they are too poor and honestly, too tired trying to survive. This has created serious lags in our learning. It is not that we are not smart. We just haven't had the experience to create prior knowledge. My job as an educator is to fill in the gaps. Donors Choose is our life line to success!
My Project
Oh my goodness is this fun! I am so inspired by these children! I have never had children who will share knowingly, that they want to be doctors and dentists. That's right, they are five years old and are intrigued with the internal workings of the body.
To encourage and motivate these children to learn more I am requesting your help. Included in my request are four human body models that have removable internal organs. The facts card will simply describe the function of each of the organs. The removable body parts apron will help the children to reinforce what they have learned from the organ facts cards. For my future dentists, I am requesting a dental model of an adult teeth. I have scheduled a dentist to visit our classroom and give a presentation. My goal is to let the children hear first hand why his job is so important to your health.
Teaching is a gift.
At the end of the day I need to captivate and keep children motivated and inspired. What a thrill it is for me to think that I actually have children dreaming big dreams. Poverty should never curtail a child's dreams! By funding this project YOU will be responsible for educating our next generation of doctors and dentists. I can not do this on my own.
