"Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success." - Henry Ford -
Collaboration is one of the most important 21st Century skills we can teach our students. Chromebooks allow students to collaborate face to face or on the computer while working on projects.
My 7th grade students reside in a rural area with limited resources.
Our building contains approximately 600 students in grades kindergarten through eight. 40% of these students would be classified as "economically disadvantaged" and approximately 54% are eligible for free or reduced lunch. My students are compassionate, inquisitive individuals who enjoy being engaged in their learning. Their thirst for knowledge in this digital age is sometimes hampered by our limited funds.
My Project
My students will be able to use Chromebooks in the classroom to publish their original work using multiple digital storytelling programs. Students will be able to use productivity tools on the web that allow them to access their work anytime and anywhere. Using Chromebooks, students will be able to communicate using 21st Century tools and stay connected using an application like Google Classroom.
My students' lives will be impacted in a positive way with our own set of Chromebooks.
They will have access to the same tools and technology that many other school districts have readily available. The use of technology and the ability to improve their collaborative and communication skills will help prepare them for a successful future in whichever path they choose - college or career.
