Presently, students sit at their desk and solve equations with limited creativity and fun. The MimioPad will facilitate instruction and excitement in my classroom, bridging the gap of the 21st century classroom. Students would have access to technology, plus solve equations jointly with the teacher.
My students are from a rural town in Louisiana.
Many live in single parent homes with limited finances and technology. Many students' only access to technology is at school. Presently, my school is looking to integrate technology into the classrooms to facilitate instruction and assessment. My schools' mission is to create an environment which fosters student success. The MimioPad would contribute to a positive and motivating strategy of engaging students in the learning process of solving equations in Algebra I.
My Project
Should I receive the two MimioPads I plan to incorporate them into my lessons every day. Solving equations and plotting coordinates on graphs can be a challenging skill for my students. Some students simply lack the motivation or desire to work at math problems.I plan to prepare my students to be successful for the 21st century through creative methods of instruction that are fun and engaging. The MimioPad incorporates technology into the classroom that allows for the students and teacher to solve equations or plot graphs. One MimioPad can be passed among students to solve steps of an equation, while the teacher is in possession of the other MimioPad and assists when needed. Also, I can allow both MimioPad out and challenge two groups of students to perform math skills. Students working in cooperative groups with their peers to perform is a great instruction strategy that aligns with Common Core and COMPASS. My students will learn math and enjoy class.
