Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are 75 three and four year olds who share an awesome playground that has a fun play structure. We love to go outside and play! We need scooters and balance bikes to build our skills and growing bodies. We also need a secure place to store our new equipment.

My school is an urban elementary school of 400 students who are becoming globally competent and college ready.

A full 96% of the students receive free lunch and live under the poverty line. The pre-school provides a comprehensive program that meets students' social, emotional, academic and gross motor needs! The balance bikes and scooters will allow students to use all of their muscles in a variety of ways. The students will learn balance and different ways to make their body move. An additional bonus: students will also learn how to share the materials in appropriate ways.

My Project

Everyday students extend their classroom learning environment to an outdoor learning environment (the playground) where students work on other skills, like sharing and movement. Our current playground is basic and contains a play structure. We need additional materials like scooters and bikes that will build students' skills.

My students need bikes, scooters, and helmets that engages their bodies in active movement and improves balance because it is critical to their development as active learners.

Providing these students with new playground equipment will increase their motivation and help add to their love of learning.
