Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all come to my classroom with challenges. They would be greatly helped if they had headphones that worked so they could hear the words read to them to improve their reading skills.

The school that I teach at is a discipline school.

The majority of my students have wound up in a discipline school because their reading skills are low and they are unable to keep up with their class. Often students then resort to disruptive behavior to get out of class so that other students and the teacher will not realize that they cannot read well or that they don't understand the math as well as the next student.

My Project

Please help my students learn to work harder and then to succeed in class. The headphones will allow the students to get more individualized instruction using computer programs designed to fill in the gaps of their instruction. I know that many of the students will not have to resort to inappropriate behavior if they learn the skills that will bring them up to grade level.

I have worked with students that have discipline problems for years.

While they are in my class I try to give each of them individualized instruction, but that is very difficult to do when each one has a different need. I don't like to see the same students returning year after year and realizing that I have not been able to give them the instruction that they really need. Headphones will enable each student to receive the instruction tailored just for them and stop the discipline occurrences.
