My students need a document camera to help bring math lessons to life for them. This would allow the students to be more engaged in the learning process.

My Students

"There should be no such thing as boring mathematics" (Edsger Dijkstra) In my class, it is all about that math! When it comes to math, we are all about learning, being engaged and doing hands-on activities.

My students are like my own children.

I love them and I have high expectations for them and expect them to have high expectations of themselves. This does not mean we don't make mistakes. I let them know right off the bat that making mistakes is all a part of the learning process. The fact that my school is in a low income area means that the more relevant I can make my lessons, the more apt my students are to break the cycle and become productive members of society. I want my students to leave my class loving math and having learned to their fullest potential.

My Project

By having a document camera available to use during my math lessons, I will be able to share a wide variety of resources with my class. A document camera will allow me to share manipulatives from a lesson, pictures from a book, worksheets that can be completed together, allow students to come up and share their learning with their classmates, and the ability to record lessons to be shared with students who may be struggling or may not have been present for the original lesson.

There are so many times that just standing in front of a class and lecturing does not work.

Students today live in a fast paced technology laden world and a document camera would allow math to be more a part of that. Bringing math to life would be so much easier when the students become a part of the math that is taking place.
