Money!

My Students

Money? How many aren't interested. An applied lab like the Science of Money will grab my students attention and help them to learn skills such as graphing, currency design and the Scientific Method.

Remember your first allowance?

The hours you spent planning what you were going to save your money to buy? These kits are the logical extension of that. Doing hands on activities that are educational and informative dealing with money. We study Physical Science in 8th grade. This entails Chemistry, Physics, and some Astronomy. We are in a high poverty, program improvement district in Northern California. My students are bright and eager to learn, but often don't have all the materials that they need. In order for all to have an equal opportunity to learn, some have to work harder than others, and many of them do! . Learning about money through history and experiments will make the learning process fun.

My Project

My students will learn about our currency through scientific means. We will study design, history, materials that our money is made from, and our treasury system. This kit covers much of that, and more. We will also explore mass, volume and density relationships, surface area calculations, and graphing, with identification of an unknown substance thrown in!

Donating to our project will enable my students to become more familiar with many things.

Scientific processes, money, identifying unknown substances, graphing, and a whole slew of other important things. And...We will use the kits for many years, so more than one group of students will benefit. Thank you very much.
