This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My first graders attend a Title 1 school in South Florida.

This means most of them qualify for free or reduced price lunch. The yearning to learn is not reduced, however! My students love to use the limited technology we currently have in our classroom. Computers and tablets are truly the pen and paper of today and nothing engages students more.

My Project

By having three iPads for the classroom, my first graders will be able to use math apps in which learn they'll how to count money, make change, save, and spend money responsibly. My students will recognize coins, learn their value, and how to add and subtract money. They will learn the value of a dollar as they earn and spend money and have lots of fun while doing it. The cases will keep the iPads protected and the toner will help us print our budgets on our classroom printer.

Many of my students have limited access to technology at home.

By having three iPads in the classroom, they will be able to learn in ways they have never been able to before. They will interact with money and math apps and have fun while learning. By the end of the school year, they will be adept at counting money, making change, and budgeting money. The iPads will keep them engaged and interested in what they're learning about.
