My students need 30 microphones in the computer lab so that they can record audio for their projects, such as narrating animations, reading text for younger students, etc.
My students are expanding their digital learning toolkit every day. But the parts they are missing are the audio recording and editing skill sets. They are eager to learn and share what they have learned in every format possible including audio.
My students are elementary aged and are looking for ways to become the well-rounded digital learners they need to be going forward.
About half of the families in our school live below the poverty line and our school is committed to providing all students with opportunities to become ready for college or careers of their choosing.
My Project
With these Headphone w/ Microphone, my students will be making digital stories and narrate them. They will narrate their PowerPoint presentations. They will write and read stories for younger students in our school. They will give speeches. They will write and perform scripts for animations. Being able to perform what they have written gives them a reason and motivation for writing well. Narrating stories gives them strong motivation to improve their oral reading skills. They will be creating online tutorials and podcasts to teach specific computer skills to younger students.
Being able to record their own voices will improve students motivation and skill development in their technology class.
Skills in using audio to share what they have learned will transfer to other subjects as well and will give them a head start in our increasingly technology-rich educational environment. Mostly, becoming more skilled at using technology will allow my students to have a better chance at succeeding in middle and high school and beyond, whether in college or in the working world.
