This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Providing my Preschoolers with special needs as many opportunities to promote independence is so important.

My Preschoolers are 3 to 4 years old and have various disabilities such as autism, cognitive deficits, and other health impairments.

They attend a Title I school, in an inner-city, large school district in California. Each child requires individualized lessons to meet their various needs.

My Project

My students need a two mobile Library Carts, Book Bins, and Paper Trays and Calendar Kit to give them easy access to their individualized daily lessons and activities. Using the student's photos and visual schedules placed on their own lesson trays, students will be more independent in carrying out their activities. Materials and visuals will be clearly marked and very accessible. Special needs students do not learn in the typical manner. They require explicit directions with very visual strategies to learn.

All of these opportunities to promote independence will help with the ultimate goal of becoming an independent, functioning citizen.

Every opportunity we can offer these students to do things by themselves is so valuable.
